When my mum came to visit for my birthday she also brought along with her seven good sized boxes of my Polly Pockets from my childhood. We recently learned that these wonderful compact toys had gained a market! Especially the ones from the late 1980s and early 1990s, which on Ebay are being listed as “vintage”! Vintage!? Suddenly I feel so old! However, if it’ll make me money, I’m on board!
In going through all of the boxes, I quickly began to relive building Polly Pocket Land in our living room, and began playing with them of course, but I also noticed that these seven boxes were not all of them! Sheesh! So, more are on their way…
While taking a stroll down memory lane with little Polly, I decided I couldn’t part with all of them. So I’m deciding to keep at least one…for the time being.
While “Polly’s Flat” isn’t the most complex or pretty from my collection, it is my first, so I feel it’s a fitting one to keep.
My parents never threw anything away that they thought they could turn a buck on in a few years, which is why the attics and garages of both of my parents’ homes are full of toys (and for the most part the packages for the toys) from both of my siblings’ childhoods as well as mine. So, I’ve been selling off bits of my childhood on Ebay to pay off my student loans – combined with all of the other vintage goodies I’ve been selling on Ebay and Etsy. A friendly reminder about Etsy – May is the last month US residents will be able to get free shipping, using the coupon code “COLLEGELOANS”! So, Happy May all!
