Errand Running Turned Shopping Trip

The other day I had to run a few errands downtown but I couldn’t help myself stopping into a few vintage shops.  I figure if I’ve bought a bus pass, and I’m on the other side of the river, I might as well make my trip worth while, right?  Well, I came upon this fabulous 1940s R&K Original.

It’s a fabulous navy crepe number that has these amazing buttons along the upper portion and are reflected in shallow pockets – I’m a sucker for pockets.  It still has its original shoulder pads and is in fabulous condition.

Still active today, R&K Originals was a New York company located along Broadway that was established in 1932.  The company sold ready-made garments and were moderately priced.  Their first slogan was “Personally Yours” but changed to “For the girl who knows clothes” in the 1950s and lasted through the 1970s.
