Autumnal Hues
I am feeling on the up and up with this cold I’ve had for awhile, and yesterday Patrick and I went out to do a bit of holiday shopping at some of the antique malls in town. Though this is often my problem when I catch something, I start to feel better, run around and do things, and have a relapse, making my cold last longer. Which I think is why this has stuck around for so long, between Joshua Tree and several trips to Disneyland. So Patrick put a cap on the number of shops we went to, limiting it to just three. Currently I’m trying to put together a vintage shopping guide, like the one I did for Portland, for the area we now call home. It may be some time in the works, as there are many places to visit and get a feel for.
I am often a very seasonal color palette kind of girl, and while I have Christmas decorations up, and the streets of Orange feature garlands spanning the streets, inspiration for a very autumnal colored outfit hit me, and while it is still technically fall, I had to wear it! Not to mention I wanted to wear something comfy, as I’m still sniffily. The blouse is on the boxier side, so it’s loose and comfy, though I may put darts in it eventually. And the skirt, is a bit on the big side, but the print was just too marvelous to pass up on when I saw it at my friend Lyndsie’s shop.
For now it’s back to the sofa with some tea and television. I hope you all had a lovely weekend!
Do you find yourself drawn to seasonal colors when looking for something to wear? Do you have any regiments when you catch a nasty cough or stuffy nose?

Your outfit is super cute, Janey! I love that skirt.
And I think I go for seasonal colors more in the little accessories I wear more than anything else.
Eh, considering I get sick towards the ends of my semesters (probably stress related) I mostly stock up on bagged teas, and find a hot water dispenser on campus, and drink a lot of tea with honey. When I’m at home, I just burrow in a million blankets, and watch movies. Occasionally whine to my mom for hugs helps too.
I think fall has become the shortest season! Once Halloween hits there are Christmas decorations everywhere! I do try to wear my autumn colors as long as I can before switching over to Christmasy colors.
I do like outfits with Autumnal hues at this time of year. Your skirt is really pretty 🙂
Absolutely lovely ensemble. Autumn offers up my favourite hues of the whole year, too, and as – like yourself – I love dressing with the seasons, I try to get a major fix of them before winter rolls into town. Now that we have several inches of snow here, it’s time to move onto the dark (and conversely, light) shades of winter for a few months. I already miss my pumpkins, mustards, cocoa browns and earthy greens – but there’s always next year to look forward to on that front (thankfully!).

Love your outfit! Your purse is beautiful!
I love your handbag – it’s so cute with the bear on it!
As for what I do when I’m ill…I’m terrible – I just keep on going, unless I literally can’t do anything and then I resign myself to the sofa for the shortest time possible because I make the most helpless “patient” and I even annoy myself with it :-/
Super colours, that really do suit you oh so well. Hope that you feel completely better sometime soon, so that you can enjoy the holiday season properly!! x
Oh dear, I feel handbag envy coming on!
I find myself perpetually wearing black this year. All year, no matter what the weather.
Lisa.
The thing that helps me kick a cold to the curb is a medicinal mushroom called Agarikon. It’s great to always have on hand if you feel warn down, it will stop the cold or flu before it can even start. You can get it at your local health food store. In your area, Whole Foods or Mother’s Market or Sprouts should carry it. Hope you’re feeling better soon!
great outfit! i do like to wear seasonal colours … but the cold german weather puts me already in a ‘all over black’ mood – i truely try to fight!
