“You’ve never heard of the Millennium Falcon?”

Over the weekend one of my friends celebrated her birthday, and as most of her friends are Disneyland annual passholders, she decided to have a get-together at Disneyland. She’s also a big Star Wars fan, so she asked friends to wear something Star Wars related. It was a perfect moment to showcase another parasol as well as a ridiculous hat creation I just made.

I have several Star Wars parasol ideas floating around, but this was the first one I completed (because there is a lack in Rey merch!), and was a bit of an experiment with seeing what worked best to cover a large area. The sky was done using watered down Higgans ink, and the lower portion is all Prismacolor art markers. Neither worked all that well for covering the large surfaces, but I began experimenting with spray paint, so we’ll see how that works out on a future parasol.

One of the things I love about Disneyland (among many) is that it’s a place where you can put just about anything on your head and it’s totally normal. And apparently sticking Star Wars ships in your hair is also the secret to getting a guy’s attention. Seriously. I got loads of compliments, but most of which were from dudes! Crazy, huh? Chewbacca really liked it too. I want to do another one soon. I’m thinking of an X-Wing next.

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! And just a reminder, today is the final day you can enter to win the Mickey and Minnie parasol I made! Click here to enter if you haven’t already! The winner will be announced tomorrow!
