Ghost Town Alive is the Real Life Version of Westworld

Are you like many and hooked on HBO’s Westworld? Yeah, same here. Do you wish you could visit Westworld? Well, Knott’s Berry Farm’s Ghost Town Alive (which has returned for its third year) is the closest thing you’re going to find.

Long time readers may already be familiar with Ghost Town Alive, as I have raved about it every year, but to those new readers, Ghost Town Alive is pretty much just like the park of Westworld, with “hosts” but, hey, we aren’t that advanced yet, so they are actors, portraying the citizens of the small wild west town of Calico, and each citizen has their own role within a story that plays out over the course of the day, and you, as a “newcomer” get to be a part of that story. You can play “white hat” and join the sheriff’s posse, or go “black hat” and help a gang rob a bank, along with many more activities. But remember, it’s a family park, so rid yourself of any ideas of killing folks and visiting brothels. It’s also of course not as immersive as Westworld, and you are more than welcome to enjoy the clothing and technology of today, but it is the closest thing you’re going to find.

Since we are mid-way through Westworld‘s second season, I decided to once again apply the rules of Disneybounding to my outfit for the day, and created a Dolores inspired outfit.

As Ghost Town Alive is very popular, and opening day was extremely busy, it was difficult to get as many photos of the citizens and activities as I would have liked, but I’ll be back for many more visits this summer. If you would like to read and see more on Ghost Town Alive check out the following posts:

Ghost Town Alive – my first post on the subject

If you are in the southern California and Buena Park area this summer, I cannot recommend Ghost Town Alive enough. Read more (and get tickets) on Knott’s Berry Farm’s website.
