For the last three summers Knott’s Berry Farm has offered Ghost Town Alive, which can best be described as a real life, family-friendly version of Westworld, the fictional theme park of the 1973 movie, and current HBO TV show under the same name, where guests get to live out the wild west, but at Knott’s it’s with actors, and not robotic “hosts” because, hey, we aren’t that advanced yet. Because of my love of westerns Ghost Town Alive became a staple of my summer, and last weekend its third season came to a close.

Ghost Town Alive has not only been a success for Knott’s Berry Farm in terms of guest enjoyment and attendance, it has been award winning, receiving an “Outstanding Achievement” award from the Themed Entertainment Association this year.

While Ghost Town Alive may have come to close, it’s more than likely it will return for a fourth season next year, and I cannot recommend it enough if you’re a fan of unique theme park experiences and/or westerns! In the meantime Knott’s is prepping to become Knott’s Scary Farm for the 46th year. And this year I will be writing up a “Survival Guide” here on the blog for those who have never been, so stay tuned!
