Hogsmeade & Holly

Over the weekend Patrick and I visited Universal Studios for a festive day with friends to enjoy the sights, sounds, and sweets of the season in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, as the area got the holiday treatment for the first time!

For the day my outfit was inspired by one of my favorite places in Hogsmeade, the sweet shop Honeydukes, where the color scheme falls in line with the season, as pink is a close enough relative with red!

Myself standing outside of Honeydukes. Windows filled with candy. I'm wearing a pink fedora, white bolero jacket, forest green sweater, and a pink pencil skirt, white and pink shoes, and a pink, white, and green purse featuring icons of Honeydukes.

Myself standing in front of a large green door with a large pink stripe across it which reads "Honeydukes Staff Only." I'm wearing a pink fedora, white bolero jacket, green sweater, pink skirt, and carrying a pink, white, and green purse featuring Honeydukes treats.

The sign welcoming you to Hogsmeade, featuring silhouettes of the roofline, and a small wreath hangs on it.

The Three Broomsticks roof is toped with snow, and the eves have green garlands on them.

The diamond shaped Honeydukes sign hangs among snow covered shop roofs.

Olivander's Wands, which features a green wreath and garlands along the tops of the windows.

Rows of Bernie Bott's Every Flavor Beans, the cartons of which remind you of a circus tent, with red and white strips, and small children's faces in hats.

Grey stone walls of Hogsmeade, with green garlands along the roof edges.

The Owl Post, which features a green garland with feathers stuck in it.

Inside Honeydukes. A pink and green spiral staircase rises upwards. Sitting on a step is my purse, which is white and pink stripes, with corners edged in green. It features travel style stickers with Bernie Bot's Every Flavor Beans, Chocolate Frogs, Pumpkin Pasties, and Honeydukes.

Do pardon the wrinkles in the skirt. It took about an hour to drive to Universal that day. There’s no getting around traffic in LA! Oh, if only I could apparate!

So believe it or not, I’ve had this spectacular vintage, ladies Stetson fedora for over four years, and had yet to feature it on the blog! But, then again, I haven’t worn it all that often. If I’m honest, I’ve been wearing hats less and less, unless they are cowboy hats that is, which I’m sure some of you have noticed. As my style has evolved, I’ve often opted not to wear a hat, or gloves, or stockings really. There are the rare exceptions here and there, and this outfit is certainly one of those exceptions. However, I will say this outfit still feels very me. It’s a little on the eccentric side, but still very vintage. Sadly, I am guilty of hoarding a collection of hats, gloves, garters, and stockings, that aren’t getting worn. I’ve pared down my collection of these items greatly in the last five years, and it’s now down to the best of the best, but even then, those items still rarely see the light of day. But perhaps because the gloves and stockings take up hardly any room, and the hats are organized perfectly fine, I’m not all that bothered by the fact they aren’t worn because they aren’t really in my way…unlike unworn clothing hanging in the closet. Anyone else face similar issues?
