Less than 24 hours after arriving home from Palm Springs Patrick and I were off to Disneyland for the monthly Vintage Visitors meet-up. With St. Patrick’s Day right around the corner, and the nighttime entertainment of Mad T Party closing at the end of the month, we blended the two themes together for “A Mad St. Patrick’s Day”, with members encouraged to wear green and/or Alice in Wonderland inspired ensembles. And thankfully, just a few weeks prior I scored the most perfect dress ever for the occasion!
We had a lot of fun roaming the parks together, riding various attractions, and ending the night with dancing at Mad T. For those who aren’t familiar with the Disneyland Resort’s nighttime events, two years after the release of Tim Burton’s version of Alice in Wonderland, which was produced by Disney, the Disneyland Resort dedicated an area of California Adventure to what I think can best be described as a “Disney-ified rave”. Imagine if you will Alice and the Mad Hatter having a rock band that played only covers of dance music from the 70s through contemporary stuff. Seriously, I’ve heard everything from ABBA’s “Dancing Queen” to Miley Cyrus’ “Wrecking Ball” during the few times I attended, complete with crazy lights, performers on stilts, and between sets there is a DJ wearing a White Rabbit inspired outfit with lighted bunny ears. It’s quite a sight. The area previously belonged to a similar environment, but titled ElecTRONica, and was inspired by Tron: Legacy.
And come next Sunday we’re all getting together again for a lovely Sunday afternoon tea. I still haven’t decided what to wear though!
