Batuu Bound

Yes, you’re getting another post about Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, aka Batuu. Here on Batuu, it is a very earthy color palette, and the citizens of the area don lots of layers with vests, wraps, and more. After seeing their ensembles, I became very inspired to look in my wardrobe for something of a similar aesthetic. What resulted was very in line with my adventurer chic looks.

Myself standing in front of a doorway, with tattered banners of red and white hanging above, wearing a dark brown motorcycle jacket, a green and white blouse, and tan wide leg slacks.

Myself standing in the marketplace of Batuu, wearing a dark brown motorcycle jacket, a green and white blouse, and tan wide leg slacks. Behind me small speeders for children sit on shelves.

Hanging within the toy stall is a small Millennium Falcon making its way through an astroid field.

Inside the restaurant Docking Bay 7, a cargo themed restaurant within Galaxy's Edge. Sitting inside a giant cargo crate which acts as a booth.

The unique thing about the Cast Member costumes for SW:GE is that the designers made them more like a versatile wearable wardrobe. Unlike other lands where everyone wears the same thing (or similar, as often men and women have different costumes), here the Cast Members have options. There are loads of different pieces and Cast Members have been encouraged to create their own look using the variety of items. Almost everyone you see will have a different, yet cohesive look. I can honestly say I am super inspired by the costumes and look forward to creating more looks based on their and other costumes of the Star Wars universe.

I mentioned in my last post that there was one shop I could spend forever in, and that is Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities. Here are many of the higher end items, including replicas of jewelry, character specific lightsabers, and more. But the walls themselves are what is so amazing about this shop. There are artifacts from various Star Wars stories, and some easter eggs as well, including the Ark of the Covenant from Raiders of the Lost Ark!

A massive carved scene of Jedi fighting creatures.

Inside Dok-Ondar's Den of Antiquities, with shelves full of artifacts big and small. Axes, statues, helmets, creatures mounted on plaques, and items I have no idea what they are.

The Ark of the Covenant tucked behind a cargo crate within the antiquities shop.

Mounts of various creatures from the Star Wars universe.

Above the outdoor marketplace of Batuu hang swaths of netting and eclectic metal lanterns.

Myself standing in front of a raised platform with droids in various stages of being built, wearing a dark brown motorcycle jacket, a green and white blouse, and tan wide leg slacks.

I love the amount of detail here. The Imagineers really out did themselves, and it honestly feels like the shops and buildings have been there forever, when in reality they are brand new. There is a massive amount of detail, and lots to see.

As mentioned previously, from now through June 23, the land is reservations only, which filled up within two hours of them becoming available.

Beginning on June 24, Disneyland will implement a new reservation system, and Guests will make reservations one of two ways. The first is using the Disneyland app, where once within the park, Guests create a “boarding group” and will receive a push notification when then can enter the land. The second is for those without the Disneyland app, where Guests can visit specific locations within the park to acquire a reservation. Within the foreseeable future it is vital to pay attention to the Disneyland website for all information. I’ll be creating a Disneyland guide later this year and will hopefully include this new system, as my current guide is now horrifically out of date, but I was waiting for Galaxy’s Edge to open up before doing a new one!

Meanwhile those in Florida will have to wait until August 29  visit the alluring planet of Batuu.
