October Reflections

Where did October go? Normally, I have multiple posts sharing unique fall experiences, but this year really got away from me. You’ll notice I didn’t even get to write about the Anaheim Fall Festival! And the reason why is both a blessing and a curse. This year I was lucky enough to be elected to the Board of Directors for the Anaheim Fall Festival, which increased my involvement. And come the big day both Patrick and I were running around solving problems, leaving absolutely no time to take photos! But, the biggest highlight is something you’ll see in this post! I was able to organize a collaboration with the talented metal smith Casey of Seam Boat Willie, for her to make a sterling silver Andy Anaheim necklace for us to sell. So look out for that in this post! For the uninitiated, Andy Anaheim became the mascot of Anaheim back in 1954, a gift from Walt Disney himself. The letter A makes up his body, and his cheerful face welcomes everyone to the little farming community turned resort town. I am utterly obsessed with him, and have always wanted a well made, sterling necklace of him. Seam Boat Willie caught my eye awhile back because of their amazing Disneyland inspired jewelry, and I knew they would be the perfect fit to bring Andy to life in silver. I worked closely with Casey and the AFF creative team to make sure we captured Andy’s joy, and I felt so lucky to see Casey’s process unfold in real time. You can even find a video of her process on Seam Boat Willie’s Instagram.

As is our tradition, we spent Halloween night at Knott’s Berry Farm with several friends, getting frightened by the hundreds of monsters that lurk in the fog. I love the creativity that comes from Knott’s Scary Farm’s maze team and the actors. I also was able to finally don my Halloween inspired jacket I have been working on all year! I know it will only grow and change as the years go on.

While I’m sad to see October go, I am happy to leave the stress of it behind. Now it’s back to packing away all of the Halloween decor and gear up for Christmas! How was your spooky season?
