Christmas Eve

I hope that the holiday season is treating you all wonderfully! This evening we’re headed over to Patrick’s aunt and uncle’s for dinner with loads of his family, including some I haven’t met. Sometimes I try to tone down my vintage-ness when I’m around people who don’t really know me because often such people, to quote A Christmas Story, look at me “as if I had lobsters crawling out of my ears.” So here’s my slightly toned down outfit for the evening…

Coat & Brooch: Antique Alley, Portland
Sweater: Local rummage sale
Skirt: Retro Rejuvenation, Coburg
Stockings: What Katie Did
Shoes & Purse: Thrifted
Earrings & Gloves: Don’t recall…

I hope you all have a lovely Christmas!

  1. This is such a beautiful outfit. Love the dress and coat. Did you make the red coat? How about the Christmas tree pin? My mother used to make pins like that. The last things that she made was stuff for out baby girl and a Christmas stocking. I also got a red sweater to wear under a white sweatshirt she decorated with Christmasy decorations. It was a very magical time, as it will always be for winter.

    • No, I bought both the coat and the brooch at a local antique store. That is so wonderful that she would make such festive things for her loved ones! I think the best gifts are those that are made with love.

  2. Oh Janey, this outfit is so tremendously lovely! I adore the red to black to green ratio you opted for, and think that this ensemble positively exudes festive sophistication and beauty.

From the bottom of my heart, I wish you a joyous, gorgeous Christmas, dear friend!

  3. Adorable! That handbag is gorgeous! Hope you had a great time meeting the family & didn’t shock anyone too much..haha! I worry about being “overly-vintage” sometimes too, but most of the time I embrace it and politely answer the odd questions/ smile at the stares. 🙂 Merry Christmas!
