Boo!

For Halloween this year we went to a Kick-Ass Oregon History event at the Jack London, which included tales of northwest satanism and suicide and some burlesque performances, including one of my friends.  While costumes were encouraged, and there was even a costume contest, I hadn’t planned a costume, and my last minute costume didn’t pan out too well, so I opted for simply a dark 40s, femme fatale look…featuring what is quite possibly the best hat in existence.

This hat is one of my favorite Expo finds of all time. I had been wanting a tiny top hat tilt topper for age, but had almost given up hope until I stumbled upon this at the March show earlier this year.

The evening was okay.  I actually could have done without the history portion, and went just for the burlesque, mainly because the tales told were flat out depressing instead of spooky.  But I know Kick-Ass Oregon History does cover really interesting, and lesser known events in Oregon history. My favorite was awhile back with Operation Green Light, in which the entire Portland metro area was evacuated as a Civil Defense practice.

I hope you all had a lovely Halloween!
