For Easter, Patrick and I went to Knott’s Berry Farm to continue the fun of Boysenberry Festival, which comes to a close this upcoming weekend. I used the holiday and festival as an excuse to go a little over the top with my outfit. The whole outfit was inspired by the boysenberry pie purse I bought from Miss Doolittle, one of the vendors at the Boysenberry Festival. And if you’re in love, don’t fret, she has an Etsy shop!

The day was spent with quite a few friends indulging in the massive variety of boysenberry treats Knott’s has to offer during Boysenberry Festival, from boysenberry hummus to boysenberry short ribs to boysenberry boba tea. I really don’t think I can emphasize enough how amazing Boysenberry Festival is, and I highly encourage a visit if you’re a foodie and live in the area, or if you don’t, coordinate a visit to SoCal during this time next spring!
In the meantime, It’s APRIL! Which means it’s my birthday month! Even though it’s a bit of a milestone, the big 3-0, I’ll be taking it a bit easy, as April is already pretty busy with a group birthday (I have seven other friends with birthdays in April) planned for next weekend, a visit to Riley’s Farm for my favorite play a bit later, and then my actual birthday falls on Dapper Day weekend! And in the midst of all of this, I am happy to announce Patrick and I are working on a revamp for the blog! Which I am over the moon about! It will highlight the new direction I have been going with Atomic Redhead, and I am just ecstatic about it!
I hope you all had a lovely Easter if you celebrated!

Happy birthday! I hope you have a wonderful birthday!
As a 43 year old woman. I remember my 30s fondly. I was not where I wanted to be in my life and I was scared, I did a lot of self refection and it 100% paid off. And even though I wanted to be married already and have a couple of kids. I had to realize that the world was not going to end with me not being married and not a mom.
So after looking long and hard at my life once I hit my30s I took matters into my own hands and decided to enjoy my freedom. I use to be a sad lady who was always wanting to travel and go to events but I was to scared to take the plunge. That all changed once the band New Kids on the Block reunited. That was my liberation day and the first time I became an adult. I got my first ever credit card and flew on a plane by my self to a city I knew no one in, and that was ten years ago. I still have the travel bug and loving every minute.
In 2006 when I turned 31, I decided to finally pursue my passion for dressing vintage 24/7. I signed up for myspace and learned there were tons of like mined people just like me. And I also discovered the website The Fedora Lounge (dot) com an online community of real people from all over the world sharing their love of vintage life style.
Today, I am still not married nor do I have any kids. I am very happy with my single life and the freedom to continue to pursue my vintage life style, be a cosplayer, and a confident, poised woman, who likes to geek out on old movies, music, and superhero’s.
And I recently learned in the 1930s there was a single woman movement.
Here is the link to the thread on the Fedora Lounge explaining about the 1930s single women’s culture, http://www.thefedoralounge.com/threads/single-women.92374/#post-2373751
I managed to get myself a copy of the book mentioned in the thread Live Alone And Like it and could 100% relate to this book, it was like it was written just for me, Marjorie Hillis did not marry until she was 49 years old. I myself still want to get married but I also know that I will be 100% ok if I never get the chance to.
And I also learned that some of histories very famous ladies chose to remain single, Coco Chanel, Corrie Tan Boom, Greta Garbo, Harper Lee, and Jane Austen. So I am in good company as well.
Thank you for blog-ing about the Boysenberry Festival. It looks like so much fun! And great job on the umbrella.
All of your pie accessories are so, so, so cute! I’m dying. They’re super adorable.
Everything is so darling but the show stopper is that parasol! Amazing work!
