Rarely do Patrick and I go out to the movies these days as I’ve grown increasingly more annoyed with people on their phones at the movies. But earlier this week we made it to the cinema to see On the Basis of Sex, the film that follows the early career of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg. And we snapped a few pictures of my outfit before stepping out. I love having enough room to shoot outfits inside if it calls for it! As it did when we went out because it was raining.
Prior to planning to see the movie I decided I wanted to make Justice Ginsberg’s famous dissent collar to wear to the upcoming Women’s March, and had a craft day with my friend Melissa to make it, then I realized it would be very fitting to wear to see the film. I then paired it with a long sleeve jersey dress to round out a Justice vibe. Although, I show a little more leg than those on the Supreme Court.
As for the film, I loved it. Justice Ginsberg has always been an inspiration, and I love seeing such an extraordinary woman get the attention she deserves. Ginsberg was a wife and mother while she pursued her law degree (one of only a handful of women at the time), and faced an even tougher challenge when her husband was diagnosed with cancer, and she went on to attend both her own classes, as well as his to help him. The amazing and respectful relationship between the pair is equally inspiring. I think I’m pretty much convinced Martin Ginsberg was a the perfect man.
The film also does a good job of highlighting the insane laws women faced not that long ago. Sadly, as far as we have come, there is still a lot of fighting left to do, especially in the current climate, which is why I am thankful for such things as the upcoming Women’s March.

Glad to see you went to this movie. Your web site should include more commentary about other things than just your garden and the clothes you wear. A section on social issues would be a worthwhile addition.
I have problems concentrating I did not read all of it but you are very elegant.
Long stem Rose…
That is a fabulous outfit!
Gorgeous! Gold and black are the perfect pairing
