Sending a Little Love

Well, I got so focused on trying to get Valentine’s Day cards into my Etsy shop that failed to get some of my own in the mail! It resulted in me spending Valentine’s Day frantically writing cards to friends and family that will arrive late. But I wanted to do it, because honestly we could all use a little extra love right now, as COVID still runs rampant, especially around us. Recently I purchased the cutest vintage cowgirl valentine on Ebay, and after scanning it I made a few changes, and printed it out on card stock to mail.

Myself standing in our dining room, wearing a red shirt reading "Have a Coke and a smile" in white script, and white jeans. On the dining room table is a heart-shaped box full of chocolates, a bottle of Coca-Cola, and valentines. Behind the table are various valentine decorations.

Close-up of my valentine that I'm mailing out, a redheaded cowgirl holding a grey cat.

Originally the cowgirl was blonde, and the cat brown, so I altered them to be a bit more like me and Colonel Whiskers, giving her a bit of a dye job, and turning the cat grey.

Patrick and I have never really done Valentine’s Day in the typical sense, so you’ll see no jewelry, teddy bears and roses here. I’ve honestly never much cared for the holiday, but in recent years I’ve embraced it in the sense that I have used it as an excuse to get gussied up in a red and/or pink outfit and go to Disneyland for lunch or dinner, with or without Patrick, but, obviously that couldn’t happen this year. As we near a year of the park being closed, I certainly have missed celebrating the holidays at Disneyland, among so many other things of course.

Speaking of my Etsy shop, I’m currently working on prepping St. Patrick’s Day and Easter cards. So look for more in those categories soon! In the meantime it’s Mardi Gras! Which, like Valentine’s Day, I typically spent at Disneyland, instead Patrick and I are planning on making some cajun mac and cheese and beignets and watching Princess and the Frog.

How did you spend your Valentine’s Day? Did you mail out cards?
