When Dinosaurs Ruled the Earth

Back in 2019, at the annual Her Universe Fashion Show, Adria Renee appeared (and won!) in a beautiful Jurassic Park inspired ensemble, complete with a wrap based on the iconic banner reading “When Dinosaurs Ruled the Earth.” I was completely in love with it. Then last year she announced her shawl would be part of a new Jurassic Park collection from Her Universe, and I bought it the day it came out, but I’ve put off wearing it until our return to Universal Studios. While theme parks have been open for a few months now, I was not going to return until being fully vaccinated, and even then, we were extremely cautions during our visit, doubling up on masks, sticking to outdoor attractions and dining, and using lots of hand sanitizer.

They have added a few new elements to the Jurassic World ride at Universal, including the return of my favorite little guys. In the original attraction there were two compsognathus dinos fighting over a box of popcorn (you can see them in my farewell to Jurassic Park post here) and now they fight over a Jurassic World hat.

Myself standing in front of the entrance to the Jurassic World ride, my back to the camera holding my shawl out wide. The shawl is white with various tropical leaves on the edge and text reading "When Dinosaurs Ruled the Earth" The grey stone arch for Jurassic World is above me with blue text reading "Jurassic World"

As for Universal Studios amid COVID, I was fairly impressed. During our visit the park was limited to 35 percent capacity, with lots of social distancing markers, and an increase in spaces to eat outdoors. Additionally guests were really good about wearing their masks properly. Also, if I’m perfectly honest, I felt safer at Universal than I have shopping indoors. It was a nice “dress rehearsal” for our visit to Disneyland later this week.
