Ten Unearthly Halloween Tunes

I can’t believe October arrives this weekend! I feel like I’m so far behind in fall festivities! But as long time readers know I always kick off the Halloween season with a sampling from my extensive Halloween playlist! So here we go!

While aliens and UFOs aren’t strictly Halloween, many people decorate with aliens for Halloween, so I tend to keep most of those space-themed tunes to my Halloween playlist. Here are ten songs to help your Halloween playlist blast off to another galaxy!

A UFO flies overhead beaming up three Jack o' Lanterns. Text reads "Atomic Redhead presents 10 Unearthly Halloween Tunes"

“Space Walk” The Bel-Aires

In this bop, a guy out in the desert hears some music and comes across some aliens getting their groove on.

“UFO” Gene McKown

While in the woods a guy spies a UFO, and swears he isn’t drunk. You be the judge!

“Purple People Eater Meets the Witch Doctor” The Big Bopper

Sure, “Purple People Eater” and “Witch Doctor” are standard fair for Halloween, but did you know they got together in this song by rock ‘n roll icon The Big Bopper?

“Flyin’ Saucer Rock ‘n Roll” Billy Lee Riley

Martian musicians certainly know how to jam, despite the singer having no idea what they are saying!

“Redneck Vixen from Outer space” Captain Clegg and the Night Creatures

Long time reads will be familiar with Captain Clegg and the Night Creatures, as they have been featured on previous playlists. Here the singer spies a light in his cornfield and stumbles upon a sexy alien here to get some lovin’ from an Earth boy.

“UFO Go Away” Chuck Robbins

This singer didn’t believe in flying saucers until he sees one himself, and he does not like it!

“Little Martian” Jan Amber

After going to bed, this singer comes upon a Martian in her room who wants to learn about rock ‘n roll.

“Hillbilly Band from Mars” Joe Carson

I came across this track last year I think, and completely fell in love with it! In this tune a talented group of Martians arrive and entertain the crowds.

“Mars Attacks” The Misfits

Is it even a Halloween playlist without the Misfits? The iconic band has been featured on Halloween playlists in the past, and I just had to include this jam.

“UFOs, Big Rigs and BBQ” Mojo Nixon

This is another one of my absolute favorites, it features downright hilarious lyrics and a great beat!
