Halloween at Home
It’s that time of year again! Time to showcase our Halloween decor! As I’ve said before, almost every holiday every year since we bought the house has presented its own interesting set of challenges because of one thing or another. Earlier this year we acquired a massive Kodak sign which threw a wrench in how I had previously decorated. We also added a few other elements to our home. We painted a stripe mural to the dining room, which ties the colors from the kitchen, dining room, and living room together. Earlier this year my dad came to visit, and brought with him an amazing vintage spring pole record holder which we added to the living room. Another change was kind of a bummer, I came to the sad conclusion that I simply wasn’t using the coconut chair we purchased. While it was one of my unicorns, it just wasn’t comfortable and the boys, especially Houdini, thought it was the most unique and abstract scratching post. So we bid farewell to it and bought a new, but funky and fun looking chair. I now find myself curled up reading or listening to music there.
Despite doing very little shopping this Halloween season, we still managed to acquire quite few goodies! Some of the highlights this year are treasures from the Anaheim Fall Festival and Halloween Parade. As some of you know, Patrick and I volunteer for this unique 100 year old tradition and it comes with a few perks, including being able to take home elements of retired pieces. This year we took home a tombstone and a giant cat head, both were part of games that were previously offered at the festival. The cat head also had a large bow that read “Trick or Treat” but it proved too large for our wall, additionally it was starting to split. We might revisit it next year to figure out a place for it. Additionally, I managed to find three vintage pieces from previous Anaheim Halloween Parades on eBay! I also scored a few unicorns this year including a small, vintage blow mold devil head and a 1890s Ouija board!
For me, October is speeding by too quickly! I haven’t even been to a pumpkin patch yet! But hopefully that will change soon! Have you decorated your home for Halloween yet? Looking for tips on how to decorate using vintage Halloween decorations without damaging them? Check out this blog post!

Wow! So much to take in! I love it all! I also noticed the album record rack. I’d forgotten about those and how great they were for displaying. I don’t remember seeing your faucet in the kitchen. how unique! Love it!
