Vintage Disneyland Postcards: Fantasyland

October 23, 2018, 7 Comments on Vintage Disneyland Postcards: Fantasyland

Today is the final installment of my vintage Disneyland postcard series, and with it, I saved the most iconic land for last, Fantasyland. Disneyland perhaps wouldn’t be what it is if it were not for the beloved animated films created at the Walt Disney Studio, and here, in  Fantasyland Guests get to step into those…

Family Disneyland Pictures

August 22, 2013, 10 Comments on Family Disneyland Pictures

Recently I was granted permission from my dad to begin scanning our family’s large slide collection.  The first carousel I took back to Portland with me was one marked “Disneyland ’79 & ’81”. How could I resist? Also, we are going to Disneyland in a month! So I’m getting pretty excited! While I don’t think…

The Disneyland Skirt Makes Its Debut

February 24, 2012, 26 Comments on The Disneyland Skirt Makes Its Debut

Friday was our first day of three that we spent in the Disneyland Park and my special Disneyland Skirt made its debut and boy was it a coming out party it was. I had guests and cast members alike comment on it, and countless people (some asked, others didn’t) took my picture.  A few questions…

Disneyland, Here I Come!

February 2, 2012, 12 Comments on Disneyland, Here I Come!

In just about a week, Patrick and I will be winging our way to sunny southern California to spend some time with my family, as well as a few days at Disneyland. As previously blogged twice before (see the progression here and here) I decided to make a Disneyland themed circle skirt for the trip.…

November things. The boys tried to help decorate f November things. The boys tried to help decorate for Christmas, so things have taken way longer than I thought. Friends are the best. Disneyland surprises. And a new car!
This morning Patrick and I went to Disneyland basi This morning Patrick and I went to Disneyland basically just to eat as much holiday food as we could. It’s been on the chilly for us in California, so I bundled up but wanted to stay comfy, and ended up looking like a David Crosby groupie. Not a bad look for throwing it together at 6 am! From the Holiday Beef Dinner Potato to the gingerbread cookies (the best ones are from Harbor Galley!) to the Cranberry Pomegranate Mint Julep (it’s no Watermelon Julep but it’s still tasty!) we filled our bellies right as it started to sprinkle.

It took over a week to be able to come up with coh It took over a week to be able to come up with coherent words for how I’m feeling after the election. Over on the blog you can find a list of institutions Patrick and I currently support or have previously supported. They offer aid to various threatened groups, provide resources, teaching tools, and ways you can be active. Link can be found in stories and bio!

Also this isn’t Philly! It’s Knott’s Berry Farm! Need a reminder of democracy, visit Knott’s Berry Farm’s recreation of Independence Hall. It’s free to visit! It was also used in National Treasure! Which came out 20 years ago today!
November so far. I can’t believe November is ove November so far. I can’t believe November is over half over. I haven’t been able to blog for several reasons. 1. Both Pat and I caught a cold. Yes, a cold. We tested for COVID multiple times and were negative. 2. The election. Reflections on which will be shared this week on the blog. 3. We have started our office renovation. Well I guess we completed Phase 2. Phase 1 was when we build the wall. Anyway, we painted, laid carpet down, and moved some stuff around. Phase 3 will be making a custom corner wall unit. Meanwhile I finally packed the last Halloween box today. It was the bathroom decor, and began to deep clean. I hope to haul in the Christmas decor this week. How about y’all? How are you holding up? Have you decorated for the holidays?
We need each other more than ever now. We can be s We need each other more than ever now. We can be scared. I am the most scared I’ve ever been in my whole life. We can take today to rest and mourn. My simple advice is look around you. Find those you trust. Build a better community and future with them. And with them we will fight. We must never stop fighting to create a place where everyone is equal. If you learn of protests, groups, programs, anything, that helps others, post it, share it, encourage people to attend, and attend yourself.
So much is at stake. Vote! But don’t stop there. So much is at stake. Vote! But don’t stop there. Get involved in your community. Create positive change on your own street. Make a space that is welcoming and inclusive. 💙
Houdini is ready to be packed away. 🎃 But in al Houdini is ready to be packed away. 🎃 But in all seriousness, black cats are some of the best cats around. They are not bad luck and they are NOT to be used as live, temporary Halloween decorations. A very tragic reality, and a contributing factor to why they are often not available for adoption during October. Sadly because of superstition black cats are the least adopted, and make up roughly a third of the cats available for adoption. So please consider adopting one if you’re looking for a furry companion! They are incredibly affectionate and fun loving! 🐈‍⬛
I can’t believe the @anaheimhalloweenparade is o I can’t believe the @anaheimhalloweenparade is over. We celebrated the centennial of our parade, quite the milestone! @patrickarlt and I took on a lot more responsibilities and it added to our growing sense of community here in Anaheim. While it may be over for another year, many of our volunteers are already hard at work seeking ways to improve our event for next year! 🎃 I dived a little more into all that Pat and I took on over on the blog! You can find a link in my bio! 🖤
Yesterday Patrick and I woke up early to take @ana Yesterday Patrick and I woke up early to take @anaheimhalloweenparade floats back to the warehouse (they need to recharge at the end of the parade route) then we did some post-parade reorganizing and unloaded, then it was off to LA for @orvillepeck ! Which was nothing short of amazing! Then we swung by the old Arby’s for pizza and cheesecake from Prince St.
