Once again, my dad and I made what seems almost a pilgrimage to Portland’s Expo Center for one of the largest antique shows around. This year was not as bountiful as previous turns, but nevertheless entertaining and fun. There were vintage Halloween and Christmas goodies galore, and I was glad I already had my array of aluminum Christmas trees, because the average price for one was around $80, and there were at least twenty offered today.

As for purchases, I picked up this improve yourself booklet from 1964. I think it may prove fairly amusing and that I may reproduce its tips and tricks here weekly. I also bought this 1948 Vargas pin-up, which I am so proud to add to my collection and can’t wait to put her up for Christmas. And to add to my closet, I picked up this Oleg Cassini green number. Talk about love…it fits like a glove with an adorable bow in front and fun buttons in the back. Cassini is best known as the “Couturier to Camelot” as he worked with Jackie Kennedy while she was in the White House, a style which became prominent in the 1960s by public demand. I also bought a bag full of Christmas ornaments and a vintage formal that was so cheap I didn’t bother to try it on, only to arrive home and discover that it does not fit – so it’s fate lays with Etsy or whatever my crafty mind can concoct for it.
