One vintage thing I don’t really “do” are scarves. We’ve just never much got along. Sure, I’ll tie a classic nylon scarf around a ponytail, but that’s pretty much were it ends. However recently I came across this fantastic wagon train themed scarf, and at $5.00, I couldn’t pass it up, despite not know what I was going to do with it! But then, I remembered an outfit I’ve wanted for ages… Judy’s green ensemble from Vertigo, in which she has a small scarf or handkerchief, that matches her collar and cuffs, tied around her belt. So I took that idea and ran with it.
I’m really looking forward to digging out the small collection of scarves I have and putting them into action. I think the same effect can be achieved with handkerchiefs too, and I have a few of those as well. It’s a fab way to add some pop to an outfit, and integrate a lot of different colors into an ensemble.
That is such a great styling idea, thank you very much. I love scarves and own a lot, but besides from wearing them around my neck to prevent it getting cold (and of course that means I remove them as soon as I take my coat off), I really have issues how to wear them. Especially when wearing smaller ones I always feel like a scout. To wear it round the belt is a real good alternative, I have to try it very soon.
Stellar scarf idea! I so love how you carried the chuck wagon theme throughout this elegant, beautiful, and completely fun outfit (I’ve always been a huge fan of the pioneer days and ideas that celebrate that important chapter in history, too).
Such a good idea. I recently nabbed a gorgeous California souvenir scarf but couldn’t figure how to show it off in all its glory – no matter which way I tied it round my melon head 🙂 I think this is a super clever idea… especially with the coordinating belt… and I bet it would look just as cute with some jeans and a peasant top! OOOH I am going to have to try that.
What a unique idea. Im sure you have tried neck scarves, I think that style would look adorable on you, especially with all your great outfits. I love the whole old west theme you have Goin on. I have the California gold rush bracelet with the little covered wagon and other campfire charms, love it!
Adorable! That bracelet is fantastic! I too always struggle with how to wear scarves, but I can never resist a good one! I just found a super cool souvenir scarf from Scotland (I collect trinkets from Scotland). I love the idea of tying it to a belt. So clever!
Ahhh. What an incredible print and colors!! I could see you rocking a scarf around your neck too, since you have a lot of cute collared sweaters & shirts (or seem to?) Maybe with a scarf slide (or ring!) to hold it closed? God, you’re killing me with the novelty jewelry too! Killerrrr.
Oh yes, I tucked one of my great-grandmother’s hankies in my belt at our wedding! Anyway, I love, love, LOVE this outfit. You accessorized it superbly! Those earrings and brooch are killlling me. The scarf is a beauty, too. Scarves are something that I always admire when I see other people wearing them and I have a few I like, but whenever I see a bunch of scarves I get overwhelmed and glaze over. So I rarely buy them. lol I need to fix that!
I love a good theme outfit! Adoring your jewellery and that scarf is yummy. I love way you’ve tied it from the waist- it allows the fabulous print to be seen…sometimes the print is lost when tied around the neck or head. xx Shauna
Maureen O’Hara wore a similar ensemble in “The Parent Trap”; the blue and white floral number with green and blue scarves on the belt.
What a fabulous themed outfit!
Love those earrings, the bag and the scarf 🙂

Really cute. I love the purse especially.

That scarf is beautiful, no wonder you couldn’t leave it. I love the outfit, especially the cute wagon brooch.

Super cute! I just found an awesome “farm” print Echo scarf so I may have to draw some inspiration from you and do up a farm themed outfit!

yeah, i’m so in love with those cowgirl details. the bag totally hits the nail.
What a great idea for a different way to wear a scarf. It looks fab with the Western themed outfit. I will be trying this idea myself 🙂
