Saving Mr. Banks
Despite the blustery and rainy day, I was giddy with excitement at getting to finally see Saving Mr. Banks, the film covering the trials and tribulations about the making of Disney’s beloved film Mary Poppins. The film was delightful and heartfelt, but I can’t deny the fact that I’m sitting here debating if I should write about the historical inaccuracies during the Disneyland scenes or not, although I keep getting told by everyone that the general public will not be aware of what is wrong about the film, and that there was only so much they could change, and that I should just chill out. So I guess for now, we’ll just stick to what I wore…

How special…. Your mom’s coat
How wonderful to have a coat owned by your mother! You have so much keen knowledge about Disney it would be interesting to hear your thoughts on the movie.

1. Loooove the outfit! That coat is an absolutely divine color on you. It compliments your complexion and makes your hair pop.
2. I think part if the problem with making movies based on real life events that revolve around beloved things like Disneyland is negotiating between what was and what is familiar. 99% of people aren’t going to notice the inaccuracies and misrepresentations simply because they’ve only ever experienced the event/place in the here and now. A good example of this is Ren Faire garb and often the events themselves.
I usually like to read up on the history portrayed in films. I get the entertainment and the story, but also get to learn something. It’s so easy to take the fictional for fact when we don’t know the history. I’d love to read a post about the inaccuracies. Share your knowledge, Janey!
Adorable outfit. I love that blue coat. All of my coats are very dark or bold colors, I think I might have to invest in something lighter like this. It looks like you’re going to play in the snow. 🙂
Are you planning on doing a post later on about the inaccuracies of the film? I haven’t seen it yet (my hubby and I will probably see it on Christmas) but I would be interested to see if I can catch them all.

You look lovely! I particularly like your novelty print blouse, and how your glasses pick up the colors in your outfit and seem particularly bright and red.
I totally get people’s point to relax and enjoy a(n inaccurate) movie–as a Classics student, the movie Troy made my blood boil. Boil. But I’d also say, your audience isn’t the general, ahistorical public. I mean, we get annoyed when people wear vintage slips as dresses (that isn’t just me, right?). And as you’re a Disney buff, I think people would be really interested in what you thought and caught. So I say *totally* post about that!
Oh, I just think this outfit is beautiful! Love the coat, I have several in the lighter pastel colors also. I was always wondering if I should wear my knee length coats with my longer pencil skirts, now I see I can, looks perfect!
