Peanuts Celebration 2019

Last year Knott’s Berry Farm introduced a new entertainment offering to its unique seasonal schedule, Peanuts Celebration! Sadly, last year I didn’t have time to visit, but this year I was not going to miss it!

As some of you may know, Charles M. Schulz’s beloved characters call Knott’s Berry Farm home, but typically the Peanuts Gang sticks to the Camp Snoopy area of the Farm, but during Peanuts Celebration, they take over the entire park with many activities and shows, plus loads of special themed food and decor! One things I really love is that nearly every tree in the park is now a kite eating tree.

Brownies frosted in yellow frosting with a dark brown zig-zag emulate Charle Brown's t-shirt.

One of the unique activities is the Peanuts Cowboy Jamboree in Calico Park where Linus and Franklin greet Guests and challenge them cowboy themed games, including roping.

Knott’s Berry Farm welcomes Pig Pen during the celebration, who is not normally available for meet-and-greets, inside the Livery Stable.

Over inside the Birdcage Theatre is the Peanuts Sketch School where Guests can learn to draw the Peanuts Gang.

The small outdoor Camp Snoopy Theatre features a brand new show, Space Beagle where Snoopy goes to the moon. Which isn’t as out there as you may think! Schulz had a special relationship with NASA, and there is even an award called the Silver Snoopy!

The large outdoor Calico Mine Stage is home to two different shows. During the day it is a musical retrospective called The Music Goes ‘Round and Around featuring Sally and Schroder, and during the night things really get grooving with Woodstock’s Music Festival featuring Jelly of the Month Club, who is described as a “family friendly indie band” but they have a hint of ska to them, and reminded me of similar kid-friendly bands like The Aquabats and Koo Koo Kangaroo. The show also includes the Peanuts Gang, and Snoopy in a variety famous musician parodies such as “Jimi Houndrix” and “Fido Mercury” giving plenty of entertainment for the adults.

Other offerings include two ride overlays, one on the Sky Cabin and another on the Grand Sierra Railroad. Inside Town Hall  is a video showcasing the history of the Peanuts comic strip. There is also Spike’s Discoteca De Silencio in Fiesta Village, which lets Guests groove to three different channels of tunes via headphones.

Peanuts means a lot to me personally. My mother collects Peanuts items, focusing mainly on vintage items from the 50s and 60s, and I grew up watching every single Peanuts special there was. If you’re curious as to my favorite, it is It’s Arbor Day, Charlie Brown. I also identify with Lucy a great deal. So to be able to experience more of the Peanuts Gang outside of Camp Snoopy is a lot of fun, and gives me yet another reason to visit Knott’s Berry Farm.

Peanuts Celebration runs during weekends only now through March 10, plus President’s Day on February 18. And February 3 will be the second annual Charlie Brown Day, where Guests are encouraged to wear Charlie Brown’s iconic yellow and black zig-zag shirt.
