Ouija Queen

While Knott’s Scary Farm kicked off two weeks ago, Knott’s Spooky Farm, the kid-friendly Halloween theme event at Knott’s Berry Farm, started last weekend. Even though the event is geared more toward children, it’s still a lot of fun! Friendly spirits roam Ghost Town, there is “Spooky Storytelling” inside the Bird Cage Theatre, crafts in Calico Park, and even trick-or-treating for those under the age of 11.

My favorite of the friendly ghosts is perhaps the Undertaker, who will “fit” you for a coffin and ask you what you would like it to be made of, and what sort of lining you would like. Ironically it was something some friends and I gave much thought to when I was younger. My mother worked at a funeral parlor and she would bring the casket catalogs home and my friends and I would look at them during sleepovers, noting of the nice embroidery of some interiors and such. Yeah, I was pretty morbid even as a child.

A banner reading "Happy Halloween" with jack-o-lanterns hangs on a small stage of Ghost Town. The two story Gold Trails Hotel stands in the background, covered in cobwebs and skeletons stand on the balcony.

And speaking of Halloween, we have the house all decorated! But, like always, I keep finding new pieces at antique malls, but look for a post soon! I’m also working on putting together another Halloween playlist to share again this year. If you can’t wait for some fresh spooky tunes and missed last year’s playlist, check it out here!
