Ringing in 2024

For the first time since the pandemic, Patrick and I hosted a New Year’s Eve party. It also meant I decorated for New Year’s Eve for the first time since ringing in 2020! And I hadn’t realize just how much I had bought over the last few yeas, including some spectacular 70s hats and many more noisemakers. I decided super last minute to host the party, and we ended up with a smaller party than years past (when ringing in 2020 we had 63 people!) but it was still delight and we spent it eating, chatting, and watching Disneyland’s fireworks from the comfort of our front yard.

The evening gave me another opportunity to wear one of the pressed coin bracelets Patrick and I have been working on. This one features New Years coins from my visits during the holiday season. It seems they haven’t kept up with making new designs for New Years in recent years, which is a bummer. I always loved them!

When looking ahead to this year, Patrick and I took some time in December to budget out all we want to accomplish this year, including house projects and trips. For awhile now Patrick and I try to budget, but time and time again we end up falling short, and projects get pushed to the back burner. But in looking at the year as a whole, doing research on cost, and implementing a few new spending rules, we hope to stay on track. We already have two home projects slated for this month and I’m eager to start one of them and hopefully share it with you once done.

How did you spent your New Year’s Eve? Any resolutions?
