Antique Mall Dos & Don’ts

November 14, 2019, 4 Comments on Antique Mall Dos & Don’ts

Shopping for antiques and vintage is a different experience than the local mall or department store, and if you’re new to antiquing, it can be a little difficult to understand. My parents were antique dealers, and I grew up going to antique malls, quickly learned the ins and outs of antique malls, and eventually became…

How to (Mostly) Cat Proof Your Christmas Tree

December 13, 2018, 3 Comments on How to (Mostly) Cat Proof Your Christmas Tree

Every year around Christmastime, the internet is flooded with pictures and stories of cats terrorizing Christmas trees. I had cats growing up, and they simply loved climbing up into the branches of our trees. We had both fake and real trees over the years, and the cats loved both equally. The following is a guide…

Secrets of Wrapping Glamorous Gift Packages

December 6, 2018, 4 Comments on Secrets of Wrapping Glamorous Gift Packages

It’s the holiday season and that means it’s also the gift giving season. No matter what holiday you celebrate, you’re going to be wrapping presents. Now, call me old fashioned, but I much prefer a good ol’ wrapped present as opposed to one in a gift bag. But, I get it, sometimes wrapping can be…

Safe Ways to Display Vintage Halloween Decorations

October 16, 2018, 6 Comments on Safe Ways to Display Vintage Halloween Decorations

If you have frequented antique malls or flea markets this fall then you’ve probably noticed some vintage Halloween decorations for sale, most of which are made of paper, card stock, and thin cardboard. This rather delicate and disposable nature of decorating for Halloween meant a lot of decorations were easily damaged and often tossed after…

How to Restore and Reupholster a Vintage Wood Dining Room Chair

May 31, 2018, 3 Comments on How to Restore and Reupholster a Vintage Wood Dining Room Chair

When my dad came to visit back in February, he brought with him four of my dream dining room chairs, the “dog bone” or “dog biscuit” style chairs by Heywood-Wakefield. The chairs had some issues, but they weren’t too far gone! Most of their iconic finish was still intact with some wear in a handful…

August 21, 2017, 5 Comments on Flea Market Dos and Don’ts

With the holiday season (which for me includes Halloween) arriving soon, Patrick and I have been hitting up more flea markets in search of fresh vintage Halloween decor to add to our home, and after witnessing and overhearing certain things at the flea market I decided to go ahead with a dos and don’ts for…

Rodeo look day 3! With snaps take at the Joshua Tr Rodeo look day 3! With snaps take at the Joshua Tree Inn before heading up to Pioneertown because there is NO reception! Psychedelic #QueenOfTheRodeo . Irony of ironies, this was going to be my Dapper Day look, and I’m missing Dapper Day today because I’m here at the Rodeo! Seriously, Orville Peck always takes priority. I’ve never been this in love with a musician (that’s alive! 🤣) If this look seems oddly familiar it’s because @hoodratdiego wore literally the same thing last fall Dapper Day! 🤣 And I didn’t even realize it until I started putting looks together and said “Hold on a sec…” 🤔 And scrolled back through their Insta. So sad today is the last day of the Rodeo but I am looking forward to getting home and cuddling my fluffy boys. Blog post to come!
Day 2 look for @orvillepeck ‘s Rodeo! Was today Day 2 look for @orvillepeck ‘s Rodeo! Was today perhaps one of the best days of my life? Yes. 100%. Not only did I meet Orville, he complimented my Gram Parsons tee, then gave me a rose at the show. And yes, I cried. Orville is not only a talented musician, he has made country music a more accepting place and I’m so thankful for. Plus his Rodeo brings together an amazing group of artists to share in his spotlight!

Because @orvillepeck is having a Queen of the Rode Because @orvillepeck is having a Queen of the Rodeo contest, y’all are going to get to see my Rodeo looks before they hit the blog! I went for an Elvis vibe for day one, with a vintage 70s jumpsuit my friend @simplyadorabell bedazzled for me! The belt is an ancient find from my Portland days. Today was truly magical as I got to hear Orville cover a Gram Parsons song, and I was in heaven! #QueenOfTheRodeo #OrvillePeck

I plan to get a blog post up with more photos, inc I plan to get a blog post up with more photos, including my costume changes! But in the meantime enjoy this snap of me (with my hair still in curlers!) and @andy_anaheim taken by @coppertop.ink ! I can’t believe the @anaheimhalloweenparade is over for another year! Both @patrickarlt and I along with so many other volunteers worked for months to bring this festival and parade to life. I’m so proud of everyone especially @kevinandjody who come up with the cutest and most darling things. They are incredibly talented. After dropping Pat off to move floats at 6:30 am I worked with others to get the festival ready for its 100th anniversary, then transformed into the Candy Corn Witch to help out our beloved Pumpkin Man and Whiskerino the Black Cat, then helped navigate floats to the staging area before transforming once again into a “Flying Disc” inspired by a costume from the 50s or 60s I saw at the @muzeo exhibit to help guide Pat who was driving @_charlesphoenix in one of our new floats. Thank you to all of the artists who vended and made festival and parade inspired works! Follow @beaniemarieart @haydenevansart @jesstasmic @coppertop.ink @showpigeon if you love this parade! And of course thank you to everyone who attended! We wouldn’t do this without you!
