Thanks for sticking with me dear readers as I blogged on and on about my Comic Con costume experience. Now, back to the vintage and fashion you come here for!

Last night Patrick and I finally made it to see Les Miserables at the cinema, yep, only after the Oscars. Go us! I used to be so on top of seeing films before the big night, but lately, I’ve had bigger fish to fry.  I can say that I’ve never been a big fan of Les Miz, however I can’t deny that it is an excellent musical, and subsequent film.

In other news, this weekend brings Expo! The weekend vintage lovers wait for! Er, rather one of three weekends Pacific Northwest vintage lovers wait for to be quite specific.  I’m happy to say that I will be helping out Fab Gabs Vintage on Friday! I’m so excitied to see what they bring in! And believe me, it will be a lot! Enough to fill up the three, yes, three spaces they have arranged! Which equates to a ten foot by thirty foot space! And of course, I am quite eager to shop around as well.

  2. Tremendously chic, gorgeous B&W ensemble. I can’t stop swooning over your Persian lamb’s wool caplet, that gorgeous ruffled hat, and the amazing cord handbag. No one creates a killer head-to-toe outfit like you do, sweet Janey.

  5. Ah! I have the same style purse, right down to the handles (though mine are more of a crescent shape). It was my grandmother’s, but I received it after her death and knew nothing about it (decade, etc). Now I know it’s from the 40’s! Do you happen to know anything else about these bags?     • Hi Zoey! These purses were indeed very popular in the 40s, and were often made by gals by crocheting them from patterns in booklets. You can still find some of the booklets on the internet (such as this one), however the cording is becoming quite scarce to make your own.

  10. What a stylish outfit! I can’t beleive your were able to find that capelet and bag thrifting….I love the bag’s lucite diamond especially. We’re so slack about the movies lately too, we haven’t got around to seeing Les Mis either. xx Shauna

  11. Wow Janey! I live in the Bay Area and I am looking forward to our two vintage events in March. First off is the Alameda Vintage Fashion Faire March 22 and 23. it is held on the grounds of the old naval base. The event is held inside the old ballroom of the Officer’s Club it is very grand with old wood and chandeliers.

    It happens only twice a year once in the spring and one in the fall. Friday night is preview night with a early buy and every year it is a different theme this year it is a Tiki themed night. If you are ever up in the Bay Area I think you should go! It is nothing short of wonderful! It is packed to the brim with nothing but vintage fashion! And the people that attend also are in their best vintage finery!

    And then there is the Vintage Fashion Expo held at the Concourse Exhibition Center in San Francisco! That one is March 16th and 17th.So as you can see the Bay Area is indeed blessed with wonderful vintage opportunities as well! I hope that you have a blast at the Expo. What are the other two events that happen in your area maybe I will have to take a trip to check one or more of those events as well.
