Once Upon a Wintertime

Last weekend Patrick and I celebrated our ninth wedding anniversary. We didn’t do anything too fancy, since things have been hectic lately, and opted just to do dinner at Cafe Orleans at Disneyland. They currently offer hot chocolate beignets and they are absolutely delicious.

Since we had a winter wedding, I wanted to wear a little winter ensemble inspired by one of my favorite Disney shorts, “Once Upon a Wintertime” wearing three, yes, three, pins featuring images from the cartoon.

Myself, standing aboard the Mark Twain, a white paddle wheeler, wearing a bright blue sweater, and a light blue skirt with white and dark blue snowflakes sewn on.

Close-up of my pins. Top right is a couple in 1860s attire ice skating, the next pin is shaped like a book and reads "Once Upon a Wintertime" and features the same couple ice skating, the third pin is a pair of bunnies ice skating.

Close-up of my pins, but with the book pin open, and features the couple kissing.

“Once Upon a Wintertime” was originally released as part of the feature Melody Time (along side another favorite, Pecos Bill) in 1948, but was re-released as part of A Walt Disney Christmas VHS in 1981, which my family had and I grew up watching it, along with other Christmas and winter themed Disney shorts. One day I hope for Pat and I to Disneybound as the couple, Joe and Jenny, I just keep forgetting to keep an eye out for a lime green skirt and I tend to avoid yellow tops as yellow and I aren’t the best of friends. Meanwhile Pat already has the perfect jacket for it. Well, one of these days it will happen! Unfamiliar with the short? You can watch it here, although the song is in French…You can listen to the song itself here.

I can’t believe Christmas is next week! I feel like this holiday season is just going by so quickly! I still haven’t gotten all of my Christmas shopping done. How about you? Are you ready for the holidays?
