Like so many years before, spring Dapper Day fell on my birthday weekend, but it meant I got to see a lot of my friends, some of whom even through me surprise party in their hotel room! If you’ve been reading the blog for awhile, then you’re familiar with Dapper Day, but if you’re new, Dapper Day is simply a day in which people gather together to get gussied up and visit the Disneyland Resort, happening twice a year, once in the spring and another in fall. They also host the event in Florida and Paris. Dapper Day also hosts the Dapper Day Expo, which brings various vintage and vintage inspired shops together all in one spot for a two-day shopping event.
I ended up throwing this look together at the last minute, because Dapper Day really snuck up on me! I bought these sun and moon brooches from Match Accessories while at the Dapper Day Expo, and realized they would go perfectly with the dress! So what resulted was a very it’s a small world inspired look, and I added my vintage it’s a small world charm bracelet.

This dress is actually identical in brand and cut to the one I wore to Hollywood Forever a few weeks back. Awhile ago I was antiquing and found multiple of this style of dress, all with their original tags in one booth, and I bought them all. These dresses are incredibly comfy and speak to the mod direction I’m going back to, as mod is what I was into when I first started wearing vintage clothing back in middle school. It also feels very much like something Jeannie would have worn in the later seasons of I Dream of Jeannie, and she was my first fashion icon and introduction to the world of vintage fashion. I just wanted her whole wardrobe, and also, who wouldn’t want to have powers and hang out with a handsome astronaut all of the time? Who was your first fashion icon?
It’s hard to believe May is this weekend! Summer will be here before we know it!
