Once Upon a Groovy Wintertime

December 14th marked our 14th wedding anniversary and we spent the day at Disneyland. After years of wanting to Disneybound as Joe and Jenny from the animated segment “Once Upon a Wintertime” from Melody Time, we finally did it! In the past I’ve worn other outfits inspired by the short, such as pins, for our anniversary,…

Myself standing in Ghost Town, wearing a witch hat that is made of faux cow fur, a black dress, and two necklaces, one a glass ghost wearing a cowboy hat and the other a metal skull.

All Hallow’s Eve at Knott’s

For Halloween day, some friends, Patrick, and I spent the sunshine filled day, and the fog filled night at Knott’s Berry Farm. During the day we popped inside the Bird Cage Theatre to catch Bob Baker’s Halloween Spooktacular, followed by the bluegrass tunes of Krazy Kirk and the Hillbillies. As night fell it was time…

Myself, wearing a black cowboy hat, a black shirt that features various Scary Farm Monsters and reads "50" in big green numbers, and jeans, standing against a fence with a cemetery scene behind.

50 Years of Fright at Knott’s Scary Farm

This year marks the 50th anniversary of Knott’s Scary Farm, a Halloween staple of Southern California. The fog and monster filled streets are a far cry from the small berry patch with tea room that it started out as in the 1920s, and it’s impressive that both the farm turned amusement park and the somewhat…

Swamp Witch Summer

For one reason or another, the month of August always reminds me of the south. Perhaps it’s that it tends to get more humid in late summer, or that I begin to start thinking about the Halloween season, which lends itself to the eeriness of the south. I find myself rewatching films and shows that…

Fourth of July Reflections

Last week was the Fourth of July, and Patrick and I spent the day with our dear friend Carla (who seriously always brings out the best in me, I love that I can wholly be myself around her) at Knott’s Berry Farm. What started out as a cloudy morning gave way to sun before the…

Putting Around the Twilight Zone

The Twilight Zone ranks among one of the best television shows of all time, and one of my favorites. So when I heard there was an entire mini golf course dedicated to the show, I knew we had to go! Located in the basement of the Horseshoe, fans of the show and lovers of mini…

The Forgotten Adopt-a-Burro Program at Disneyland

Long time readers of the blog will remember I was immensely fond Big Thunder Ranch, the petting zoo/restaurant/entertainment venue that was once next door to Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, and was demolished to make way for Galaxy’s Edge. Every once in awhile I wistfully look at Big Thunder Ranch items on Ebay and recently I…

Back in 1923 two brothers, Walt and Roy, moved to sunny Los Angeles, here they started the Disney Brothers Studio. Little did they know that 100 years later their company would still be around and be involved with not just cartoons, but live action film and television, including documentaries, multiple theme parks around the world,…

Spring has sprung and with it brings Dapper Day, the twice yearly event at Disneyland that encourages visitors to “step out in style” and shop the Dapper Day Expo, which is filled with vintage and vintage inspired goodies, as well as amazing artists. Friday night we helped our friends at Match Accessories set up for…

Myself, wearing a red crocheted head scarf, a maxi length, long sleeve dress printed with a quilt like design, of red, blue, yellow, and green. The hem is blue all the way around, a brown belt, and a large squash blossom necklace of green stones, standing next to an old fashioned lamp post, in Frontierland, that has a pine swath with a small ceramic jug and small wooden barrels intertwined with it.

Patchwork Christmas

As per our tradition, Patrick and I went to Disneyland on Christmas Day for a relaxing, but fun day going on a few rides, but mainly indulging in many of the sweet treats offered during the holiday season. We also spent a good deal of time just strolling, peaking in the windows at the marvelous…
