Patrick’s Camera Collection Vol. 1

March 25, 2020, 5 Comments on Patrick’s Camera Collection Vol. 1

When Patrick and I first started dating he was well on his way to a career as a photographer, and I soon learned he didn’t collect anything. Now, coming from a family of collectors I was a little shocked. Some years previously I had purchased a cute vintage camera and decided to gift it to…

Vintage Christmas Wrapping Paper

December 19, 2019, 3 Comments on Vintage Christmas Wrapping Paper

Recently at a flea market, I spied this super cute box for wrapping paper. I was drawn to the cheerful Santa, and thought he would pair nicely with a vintage box for Christmas cards I had to display (you can catch the box under the “Reindeer Drive” sign in our Christmas decor post here). But…

December 12, 2019, 1 Comment on Vintage Christmas Cards Vol. 2

Last year I shared part of my vintage Christmas card collection with you all, and well, the collection has grown, and I’m here to share more with you! I’ll start by sharing the card we actually reproduced as our Christmas card this year… I found it so fitting as a representation of Patrick, myself, and Colonel…

Vintage Mini Trick or Treat Bags

October 17, 2019, 4 Comments on Vintage Mini Trick or Treat Bags

Two years ago I started collecting vintage Christmas cards. The cards were like mini works of art, and I thought I would display them like clothes hanging on a line. I kept the idea going with vintage Valentines, and then for Halloween last year I decided to do it with vintage miniature treat bags, perhaps…

Vintage Knott’s Berry Farm Postcards

July 3, 2019, 3 Comments on Vintage Knott’s Berry Farm Postcards

Since summer is my favorite time to visit Knott’s Berry Farm, I thought it would be a great time to share my vintage Knott’s Berry Farm postcard collection! In looking at these images, most of which are over 50 years old now, it’s amazing to see just how little has actually changed. Let’s start with…

The Lost Art of Paper Dolls: Roy Rogers and Dale Evans Edition

May 28, 2019, 6 Comments on The Lost Art of Paper Dolls: Roy Rogers and Dale Evans Edition

It’s no secret I love western wear. But a secret I do have is that I have a soft spot for vintage paper dolls. For years I have refrained from purchasing any of these miniature works of art, but when I spied a set featuring western kind and queen, Roy Rogers and Dale Evans, I…

Vintage Christmas Cards

December 20, 2018, 9 Comments on Vintage Christmas Cards

Recently I started collecting vintage Christmas cards, and decided, like many of my other ephemera collections, I should share them with you! Perhaps this will be another Christmas time tradition on the blog, as my collection grows. With this last one I also have to share the inside of it as well, because it’s just…

Vintage Disneyland Postcards: Fantasyland

October 23, 2018, 7 Comments on Vintage Disneyland Postcards: Fantasyland

Today is the final installment of my vintage Disneyland postcard series, and with it, I saved the most iconic land for last, Fantasyland. Disneyland perhaps wouldn’t be what it is if it were not for the beloved animated films created at the Walt Disney Studio, and here, in  Fantasyland Guests get to step into those…

Welcome to the fourth and final volume in my charm bracelet collection! This volume will be all about my pre-made Disney themed charm bracelets. Charm Bracelet Collection Vol. 3

September 12, 2017, 3 Comments on Charm Bracelet Collection Vol. 3

It’s time for Volume 3 of my Charm Bracelet Collection! In Volume 2 I talked about pre-made charm bracelets, and today I continue with pre-made charm bracelets, but ones that are souvenirs. These charm bracelets are from specific locations and the charms showcase that. I like that souvenir charm bracelets can summarize a location with…

November things. The boys tried to help decorate f November things. The boys tried to help decorate for Christmas, so things have taken way longer than I thought. Friends are the best. Disneyland surprises. And a new car!
This morning Patrick and I went to Disneyland basi This morning Patrick and I went to Disneyland basically just to eat as much holiday food as we could. It’s been on the chilly for us in California, so I bundled up but wanted to stay comfy, and ended up looking like a David Crosby groupie. Not a bad look for throwing it together at 6 am! From the Holiday Beef Dinner Potato to the gingerbread cookies (the best ones are from Harbor Galley!) to the Cranberry Pomegranate Mint Julep (it’s no Watermelon Julep but it’s still tasty!) we filled our bellies right as it started to sprinkle.

It took over a week to be able to come up with coh It took over a week to be able to come up with coherent words for how I’m feeling after the election. Over on the blog you can find a list of institutions Patrick and I currently support or have previously supported. They offer aid to various threatened groups, provide resources, teaching tools, and ways you can be active. Link can be found in stories and bio!

Also this isn’t Philly! It’s Knott’s Berry Farm! Need a reminder of democracy, visit Knott’s Berry Farm’s recreation of Independence Hall. It’s free to visit! It was also used in National Treasure! Which came out 20 years ago today!
November so far. I can’t believe November is over November so far. I can’t believe November is over half over. I haven’t been able to blog for several reasons. 1. Both Pat and I caught a cold. Yes, a cold. We tested for COVID multiple times and were negative. 2. The election. Reflections on which will be shared this week on the blog. 3. We have started our office renovation. Well I guess we completed Phase 2. Phase 1 was when we build the wall. Anyway, we painted, laid carpet down, and moved some stuff around. Phase 3 will be making a custom corner wall unit. Meanwhile I finally packed the last Halloween box today. It was the bathroom decor, and began to deep clean. I hope to haul in the Christmas decor this week. How about y’all? How are you holding up? Have you decorated for the holidays?
We need each other more than ever now. We can be s We need each other more than ever now. We can be scared. I am the most scared I’ve ever been in my whole life. We can take today to rest and mourn. My simple advice is look around you. Find those you trust. Build a better community and future with them. And with them we will fight. We must never stop fighting to create a place where everyone is equal. If you learn of protests, groups, programs, anything, that helps others, post it, share it, encourage people to attend, and attend yourself.
So much is at stake. Vote! But don’t stop there. G So much is at stake. Vote! But don’t stop there. Get involved in your community. Create positive change on your own street. Make a space that is welcoming and inclusive. 💙
Houdini is ready to be packed away. 🎃 But in all s Houdini is ready to be packed away. 🎃 But in all seriousness, black cats are some of the best cats around. They are not bad luck and they are NOT to be used as live, temporary Halloween decorations. A very tragic reality, and a contributing factor to why they are often not available for adoption during October. Sadly because of superstition black cats are the least adopted, and make up roughly a third of the cats available for adoption. So please consider adopting one if you’re looking for a furry companion! They are incredibly affectionate and fun loving! 🐈‍⬛

We celebrated the centennial of our parade, quite the milestone! @patrickarlt and I took on a lot more responsibilities and it added to our growing sense of community here in Anaheim. While it may be over for another year, many of our volunteers are already hard at work seeking ways to improve our event for next year! 🎃 I dived a little more into all that Pat and I took on over on the blog!
