Our 1954 Home: Backyard

November 29, 2018, 12 Comments on Our 1954 Home: Backyard

We’ve been in our home a little over a year now, and, with some minor exceptions, we just now finished up our backyard, and I am happy to finally share it on the blog! From the get-go, many people were interested in what our backyard looked like, but I kept it hidden for the most…

Join us on our Patio

July 26, 2015, 12 Comments on Join us on our Patio

My relationship with plants has often been described as a hateful one. As a child I went on many hikes with my dad through Oregon’s many forests, visiting majestic waterfalls and spectacular views. I loved these hikes, but as I grew up I began to get a destain for Oregon’s evergreen forests with their creeping ferns and…

At Home in Orange Part 2

November 13, 2014, 17 Comments on At Home in Orange Part 2

While I haven’t been feeling too hot these last few days I finally felt good enough to snap some pictures of our bedroom at our new place! Our bedroom got a bit of a western theme, as I couldn’t pass up this massive covered wagon black velvet painting my dad found, which set the tone…

At Home in Orange

October 23, 2014, 19 Comments on At Home in Orange

This post has been a long time in the making! You are finally going to see our new apartment! Well some of it anyways. While the driving portion of our move was pretty uneventful, the settling in process of the move went slower than maple syrup on a cold day. We faced multiple hurdles, some…

Anatomy of a Vanity

May 14, 2013, 22 Comments on Anatomy of a Vanity

When I wrote my review of Red Apple Lipstick, I got a comment or two on how some were distracted (I assume in a good way!) by what was going on in the background, so I figured it may be a good time to share a few pictures of my beloved vanity. Hope you enjoyed!

Weekend Shopping with Dad

September 11, 2012, 9 Comments on Weekend Shopping with Dad

Not sure how you spent your weekend, but I spent mine shopping with my pop.  There were two antique shows back to back down south, combined with visits to various thrift stores.  Plus, putting the finished touches on the 1960s rickshaw we purchased awhile back and seeing Raiders of the Lost Ark on the really…

At Home with the Atomic Redhead

August 29, 2010, 4 Comments on At Home with the Atomic Redhead

On the east side of Portland’s Willamette River is PDX’s Hollywood District. The area is named after the grand movie palace The Hollywood, which started taking tickets in 1926.Just two blocks away from the Italian inspired facade of the cinema is a 1960s apartment building that looks as if Pete and Trudy Campbell will walk out…

COVID has not only taken half a million victims he COVID has not only taken half a million victims here in the US, it has also been used as an excuse for racist violence and verbal abuse toward the Asian-American and Pacific Islander communities. Hate crimes toward AAPI is up an amount I never thought I would see. Here in Orange County, CBSLA reported AAPI hate crimes were up 1200%, yes, 1200%, that is not a typo! In other major cities they are seeing increases over 100% from the past. Please take time to learn, and take a stand against racism. In my linktree you’ll find links on how to help APPI communities. I’ve FINALLY created a link tree and it is live I’ve FINALLY created a link tree and it is live on my profile! In addition to my blog and Etsy shop you’ll find links to resources to help communities of color, including the increase in violence to the AAPI communities. Racism has no place here.

And it was to a drive thru (because drive thru everything is life right now) car wash promoting HBO’s The Lady and the Dale, a mini documentary series about the infamous three-wheeled car set to change the world, headed by Liz Carmichael, a trans-woman. It’s one wild ride. See and read more on the blog, link on profile!

UPDATE: I want to discuss something in this photo unrelated to oranges or CW, the blanket. This is a knock off of the iconic Hudson Bay point blanket, this version was by Golden Dawn Penco, a find at a local antique mall a few years ago. However they are vertically identical. The Hudson Bay blankets are questionably linked to the spread of small pox among the First Nations in Canada, and debate for that being intentional or not still rages. However, the blanket can cause pain for some. While aware of the blanket-small pox history, I was not aware of the direct link to Hudson Bay. I want to apologize to anyone who may have been hurt, and I plan to refrain from using Hudson Bay blankets in future content.

Amid the chaos of last year I completely forgot I Amid the chaos of last year I completely forgot I wrote a cover story and I just now got my hands on a copy. 🤦🏼‍♀️ It’s the first time I’ve had such an honor, and trust me, I’m very proud. As well as thankful for my friendship with @jericl . But it is mildly bittersweet, because it’s about Knott’s Berry Farm. If you’ve been following me for awhile, then you know I absolutely adored Knott’s. I even became an ambassador for them. But when police brutality as a result of racism came to a head, and companies began to take a stand with Black Lives Matter, Knott’s failed to step up. I left the ambassador program over it. It’s a convoluted subject that I wrote about in greater depth on the blog, search “Knott’s Ambassador” if you want to learn more. Link on my profile.
