Vintage Valentine’s Day Cards

February 13, 2019, Leave a Comment on Vintage Valentine’s Day Cards

For the most part I’ve never much cared for Valentine’s Day. Never really celebrating or decorating, with the mild exception of using the holiday as an excuse to wear an excessive amount of pink and red. Over the years I’ve seen cute vintage valentines and antique shops and flea markets, but I mostly refrained from…

Vintage Christmas Cards

December 20, 2018, 9 Comments on Vintage Christmas Cards

Recently I started collecting vintage Christmas cards, and decided, like many of my other ephemera collections, I should share them with you! Perhaps this will be another Christmas time tradition on the blog, as my collection grows. With this last one I also have to share the inside of it as well, because it’s just…

Vintage Disneyland Postcards: Fantasyland

October 23, 2018, 7 Comments on Vintage Disneyland Postcards: Fantasyland

Today is the final installment of my vintage Disneyland postcard series, and with it, I saved the most iconic land for last, Fantasyland. Disneyland perhaps wouldn’t be what it is if it were not for the beloved animated films created at the Walt Disney Studio, and here, in  Fantasyland Guests get to step into those…

Vintage Disneyland Postcards: Tomorrowland

October 8, 2018, 5 Comments on Vintage Disneyland Postcards: Tomorrowland

Today we jump into the future…well, what Disneyland Imagineers of the 1950s and 1960s thought the future would look like, more specifically, what the world of 1986 would look like. Out of all of the lands, Tomorrowland is the one that has seen the most change, with complete overhauls in 1967 and 1998. The first…

Vintage Disneyland Postcards: New Orleans Square

September 24, 2018, 4 Comments on Vintage Disneyland Postcards: New Orleans Square

In 1966 Disneyland debuted its first new land since the park opened in 1955 with New Orleans Square. Inspired by New Orleans of the 1800s, it features gorgeous wrought iron, convincing forced perspective, and originally was going to feature a larger in-park apartment for Walt Disney. From 1966 until 1996 there was the One-of-a-Kind Shop,…

Vintage Disneyland Postcards: Frontierland

September 13, 2018, 3 Comments on Vintage Disneyland Postcards: Frontierland

Today we continue our vintage tour through Disneyland by way of postcards, and we enter the dusty old west of Frontierland. Frontierland has seen a fair amount of change over the years. When Disneyland opened Frontierland was actually the largest land, as it included the Rivers of America and a vast, winding railroad and pathways…

Vintage Disneyland Postcards: Adventurelands

August 27, 2018, 4 Comments on Vintage Disneyland Postcards: Adventurelands

Earlier I introduced a new postcard series where I would be sharing my vintage Disneyland postcard collection. And since it’s so large, I decided to split it up into each of the lands, beginning with Main Street USA. Today we enter the mysterious Adventureland. I think it’s important to note that when Disneyland opened in…

Over the years I have shared selections from my vintage postcard collection, from Palm Springs to Portland, but I have never shared any of my vintage Disneyland ones! Today that changes! This is the first in what will be a series of five posts, each themed to one of the lands of Disneyland. Today we…

It’s time for Volume 3 of my Charm Bracelet Collection! In Volume 2 I talked about pre-made charm bracelets, and today I continue with pre-made charm bracelets, but ones that are souvenirs. These charm bracelets are from specific locations and the charms showcase that. I like that souvenir charm bracelets can summarize a location with…

It’s so beautiful I could cry! 😭My dad recent It’s so beautiful I could cry! 😭My dad recently scored me autographs from one of my favorite bands, The Flying Burrito Brothers. Normally I don’t care for contract or check signatures, but Gram’s life was so short, I would take anything. This contract is especially interesting though because it is from Gram’s time with The International Submarine Band (pre-Burritos), and when Monte Kay was their manager, who founded the iconic jazz club Birdland in NYC. Now to figure out how I’m going to frame all of this! 🤔

As some of you may know, my parents were massive C As some of you may know, my parents were massive Coca-Cola collectors. They pared down their collection over the years, but the love for the carbonated beverage remained. When I was in kindergarten my aunt got my mom and I matching Coca-Cola swimsuits, and when visiting my mom I found both hers (worn here) and mine, which I plan to put on a stuffed animal. Then in 1998 my dad and I went to Las Vegas, it was during that weird era when Vegas tried to go family friendly, and we went to what was then known as The World of Coca-Cola, an amazing interactive museum. I vividly remember the bottle elevator that made the sound of a bottle being opened when you rode. The dressing room was a Coke glass and when you entered it made the sound of clinking ice and pouring soda. I got this jacket during the visit, but left it at my mom’s when I went away to college. She kept it for me, and it still fits! So of course I had to wear both for a day in Vegas. Sadly the World of Coca-Cola is just the Coca-Cola Store now, but it still offers soda from around the world!
