After a 17-month hiatus, the award winning and highly entertaining show Mad Men is back. And thank god! Oh, how I missed it! While we have cable, we chose not to loaf around our apartment in 60s attire, but instead Patrick and myself joined up with Carla of Bohemian Vintage, and her husband, and incidentally Stephanie of beta moss, to watch Mad Men on the big screen at the Hollywood Theatre.
The even was hosted by Nico Bella of Fleur de Lethal Cinematheque, who offers up unique and fun film experiences such as the Moulin Rouge sing-along coming in October! And you can bet your sweet bippy I’ll be there! Prior to the screening, Nico invited those dressed up to come up on stage for a Best Dressed contest. Each of us strutted our stuff to applause and cheers from the crowd, and whoever gained the most applause was the winner. And you want to know who won? This girl did! I have every intention of going each week and “dressing up” of course (I say this with quotes, because I wear this kind of stuff on a regular basis anyway). And I will also be sharing each Mad Men screening outfit with you!
As for the show itself, it was fantastic! I missed Roger Sterling so very much, and am very intrigued with what character development is happening, especially with Lane Pryce and the new Mrs. Draper! With regards to fashion, we are finally into the mid-60s with psychedelic prints and super short hemlines! In middle-school this was my favorite kind of fashion, and I wore many of my mum’s clothes from high school and college, some of which will make an appearance during this season of Mad Men. So stay tuned!

I am so jealous! We don’t have TV service and I love the idea of seeing Mad Men on the big screen. I so wish we had an evebnt like that here in my lil’ ol’ town.
You looked fab by the way! The pen necklace rocks!
You look fantastic, very Joan! I loved the new episode, but I can’t get used to Don being with Megan…it just seems weird. I was a little disappointed that they didn’t show Betty!
I’m really intrigued as to what will happen with the Lane Pryce and “Dolores” story line…
The premiere was so amazing, wasn’t it! And oh my… the fashions are wonderful. How adorable (and sexy!) was Megan when she sang “Zou Bisou Bisou”?!
I love that you went to a special screening of it and I’m not surprised you won the best dressed. You look every bit the Mad Men part! 🙂
I love love LOVE your ensemble here – and I can’t wait to see the first episode of this season. I wish we had such extravagant screenings in Sydney!
that joanish look suits you
I HAVE TO GET A PEN NECKLACE! You were *killing* it at the Mad Men screening with that plaid and the updo beehive and the pen necklace. Just a perfect outfit. Sounds like a lot of fun, to boot!

I LOVE your outfit! You look fantastic, and your hair is perfect! 🙂
I’ve never actually seen Mad Men, which is crazy, considering I’m in the advertising/communications industry. I know the first few seasons are available on Netflix, so I should get around to watching it one of these days. I’m just dragging my feet on watching it, but I am sure I’ll love it when I finally do get around to it.
I would LOVE to hear your opinions about Mad Men! I think you would really enjoy it and love the character of Peggy. She is really the feminist in the group. I’d dive in now, you may even be able to catch up! 😀
