“Stop Being Demure. You’re Already on the Bed.”
Last night brought the season finale of Mad Men and a crowd of well dressed people to Portland’s Hollywood Theatre.
For the evening I wore a different dress than I intended. Originally I was going to wear a chartreuse number that I thrifted awhile back, but when I walked into Hollywood Babylon this last week and saw this hanging up, I knew I had to have it.
The dress reminded me of something that Miss Kitka (Catwoman’s disguise persona in 1966’s Batman: The Movie) would wear.
The Best Dressed Contest brought nearly 20 people to the stage, dressed to the nines. I lost out to a very well dressed married couple. The woman was wearing a fabulous 1960s champagne colored satin and lace cocktail dress that I would loved to have called my own.

Well that wraps it up for season five! I hope you enjoyed all the outfits!
Oh, and thought for once I wouldn’t talk about the episode!? Ha, no…and of course there are spoilers!
I’ll be honest, I felt this was a rather lackluster season finale. There were not any insane twists or bombs dropped…maybe we had too many of those throughout the season though. I loved that we got to see Peggy again, and it makes me believe that maybe she isn’t going to be totally off the radar for future episodes. I feel the episode could have done with a bit more Roger and Joan and a whole lot less Pete. One of the biggest things discussed in the after show cocktails that we had with our hostess Nico Bella and others was the closing scene when Don is asked “Are you alone?” and we began to wonder…is the old Don back? And by that we mean…the criminally two-timing cad that we were all introduced to in the very beginning and suffered through season after season until he married Megan. But, quite seriously, that got old…and very, very annoying. Which is why I found this season so very refreshing regarding Don. I quite liked seeing him happy. In the behind the seasons video on AMC’s website creator Matthew Weiner said that Don falls in love with Megan all over again when he is watching her screen test, but also stated there is also the chance that Megan may leave Don. But if we end up opening season six with Don with another woman, I don’t know what I’ll do. Seriously, the man has slept with at least 12 women! He needs help if he can’t keep his act together relationship wise.
Gosh, anyone know when season six is slated to air?

What an alluring, marvelous dress! I’ve so enjoyed all of the outfits you’ve worn throughout this season of MM (I found your blog right around when the season started – perfect timing!), as well as your take on each episode. The mister and are die-hard fans, too, and agree that it would be such a massive step backwards for him if Don started sleeping around again. I feel like they left a lot of balls in the air from this season (more so, come the last episode, IMO, than with any prior season), and it will be massively interesting to see how they address those points next year.
Thank you very much for your wonderfully nice comment on my vintage outfit post today, dear gal, I really appreciate it and hope you have a stellar week.

VA VA VOOM! You look amazing in that dress!
Penny Dreadful Vintage
I can see why you had to have that dress – stunning!
Ya’ll look fabulous, so that winning couple must have been something spectacular!
I was disappointed in the episode. It was just too predictable, as has the past 3 episodes.
That dress is so fabulous! It looks great on you.
I felt the finale a little lack lustre too but there were some big things dealt with. Joan taking over from Lane. Pete actually realising and facing up to his issues. As much as I dislike his character that was a big moment for him. I loved Peggy being back too. I so don’t want her to disappear and I liked the honesty of Don saying that he wanted her to succeed he just didn’t realise it would be without him.
That closing scene. “Are you alone?”. That was the big finale! Gosh I can’t wait to see what his response was. I hope he was a good Don.
